Méadhbh is the driving force behind the MDB Performance Academy. She holds B.Sc in Psychology and more recently has studied towards a H.Dip in Music Education, specialising in singing, for which she was awarded a first class honours. She has achieved her vocal grades through the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Méadhbh has a gift and love for teaching and performing, passing on her passion for music to her students in a way that motivates them, whether young or old, and tailoring their lessons to meet their needs and goals. She is passionate about harmonies and vocal arranging aims to equip her students with tangible music skills.
Throughout her college years, Méadhbh was an active participant in multiple choral and dramatic groups as both a member and director, she ultimately went on to become the musical director of the DCU Glee Club. Under her guidance, she moulded the group which then went on to perform at a professional level annually in The Helix, as well as at various corporate events. She has also performed in various musicals throughout her academic career.
In addition to her performance experience, she has taught collegiate private voice lessons and workshops at Dublin City University. She has also taught singing to the children in the Aisling Project, Ballymun for the past two years, assisting them with the production of their annual showcase. Working with this group of children, combined with her work in psychology, inspired Méadhbh to pursue teaching.
With this diverse performance experience, combined with her years as a vocalist, Méadhbh de Blacam brings a well-rounded perspective to teaching vocal technique and performance. This equips her to prepare students for the stage and allows her to teach in a way that protects and grows their voice naturally while exploring their capabilities and pushing them to reach their full potential.
